Legend Status

Established in 1990, the club has since expanded to meet "the demand of an ever-increasing rock and alternative lifestyle fan base". They've hosted gigs from the likes of Pearl jam, Oasis, QOTSA to name a few, and in 2006 were voted SLTN’s “Night Club of the year 2006”.

Bulldog's been there many times, and rates it as not just one of the best rock venues in Britain, but in the world, and he's been to quite a few. Drinks are reasonable, the security team are first class, and there's more than one floor of tunes! Check the site for latest info, prices, times and gigs. The Cathouse is so damn good it easily earns the all-new NMCom Legend Of Noise Venue Award.

Rated 4

Nights range from Acoustic based acts right up to Punk and Metal and also cover everything in between. Nights are themed so you will not find a folk act followed by Thrash Metal!

They say: "Just well planned line ups that allow you to enjoy the evening from beginning to end"

Rated 4/5

The Black Sheep is a great venue with an innovative entry policy - you have to be a member. Membership is free, however, and once you sign up you just scan your thumbprint in next time you visit.

Excellent acoustics, clean and modern setting, and reasonably-priced bevvies mean you'll get a decent night out. Maybe a bit too clinical though, hence the 4 outta 5. You can see our review of Silas and Snakebite at the Sheep in the reviews section.
