Snakebite came to the attention of The i back in the murky depths of 2006, when they and Silas hollered out to us to go see them live at Croydon's legendary CARTOON venue, and check 'em out we did. They blew us away then, to the point where Bulldog was holding onto the beer for dear life to stop it gettin blown out of hand. That combined with the fact that beneath the brutality, they are one of the soundest buncha guys you could ever find. After that, that alone was all that was needed to guarantee them a place on METAL-i's forth-coming NOISE MATTERS release. Check out Snakebite on their Myspace and hear this buncha fire-starters for yourself:

- SNAKEBITE - "60 UNITS EP"

snakebite 60unitsWe checked out Snakebite at a couple gigs in 2006 - check out our review in the reviews archive, folks - and we were struck speechless by the raw yet controlled power that this band wields.

When we heard from top geezer Jase, Snakebite's vocalist, that they had new stuff up, we got right back to him with a lil bit of news. Sure, we'd review it, as the first review in the ALL fucking NEW METAL-i. Read on to see if the south london muthas have what it takes on this 5 track EP CD.

We said it before when we saw these guys live, we'll say it again: "you know it's gonna be brutal" right from the moment Visceral Pissery kicks in. This ain't a band to fuck about with wussy intros or dadrock. Any emo in the vicinity of this, turned up to max on your player, doesn't stand a chance. It'd strip the skin of 'em. Intense grinding melodics with a throat-busting vocal by Jase, holy crap I can't fault this at all yet! Production quality on this is immense, the sound is top fraggin banana, and if yer anything like us you'll get a giggle outta the end of Visceral Pissery. God Cries grabs your head right from the start and smacks it into the nearest table, then makes you get up on it for the most furious fucking mosh you have ever had, fuck I had a desk-head interface just listening to this, fucking absolutely fucking awesome. The bassline too is so damn powerful that my neighbours think there's a 10.30pm earthquake. This ain't a band on a learning curve, this is a band with a lesson to teach any and all bands who stand in their way from their area of expertise. Bruised, Hungover and I'm Fucking Broke ... with a title like that you don't expect fluffy bunnies and sunshine. This song takes your head clean off and pisses down the bleeding stump, I'm gonna have to quote Pantera snakebite's Jason bustin' a gut on vocalshere and say this song is so fucking hostile but man, goddamn it's good. You'd play this in the car with the windows down while driving through chav central. Strength kicks in like the bastard offspring of Pantera and early Faith No More, earthquake-strength drums and a great catchy riff and you are hooked like a bitchfish. Jase's screaming gutbuster vocals tearing apart your ears yet leaving you wanting more. From all that to the title track 60 Units (I'm Still Standing), this is a tour de force (whatever that means, we don't do French unless they're fit, female and named Julie Delpy) of power, melody, hook and line with no sinker in sight. Holy shit. I think my ears are bleeding and I like how it feels. You will need to buy this EP. You will WANT to buy this EP. Absolute fraggin' rock. When you plug Snakebite into your ears, they're an army of sonic samurai wielding guitar, drums, throat-and-gut-busting vocals all possessed by the spirit of Pantera's Dimebag and Anselmo, yet their own style, unique in their own field, pure mental-metal dynamite.
