The hybrid offspring of 2 previous bands, Psychedelia and Nixon, "the guitarists from both bands merged like some kind of weird amphibious dolphin.... to create what is now known as Silas." We got the mail from these South London nutters and hit Myspace to check them out. We heard, and we liked. Check out what we had to say back in the Summer of 2006 >>. Check out Silas' Myspace:

SILAS Myspace tracks review

Silas are a ground-down sludge-grindin psychedelic-progrock band Silasnot afraid to take on a few musical barriers, charging at them with the fury of a rocket-propelled llama. Silas don't much like "the system", and aren't afraid to say so. Always good to see a band able to speak their mind. Don't pigeon-hole them, they won't like it, and they're promising enough to carve their own niche. Describing their sound as "a kind of deep stir fry with all of our influences in it, which cooks to make something different all together" and influences from Pantera and Metallica via Deep Purple and Pink Floyd, look out for this South London band at a venue near you in the near future - Inferno's in Welling, Kent on August 6th, and The Cartoon, Croydon on August 20th.

The track Bring 'Em Down will have a dancefloor filled with new-found silasfans at any venue (if it doesn't, you're in the old folks' home by mistake, lads). Second available track Storm Before The Calm is a little less polished but good in a Metallica/Jane's Addiction/ Chili's hybrid sorta way. Reminds us of Reaktor, an LA band from the metal-i.com days. We'll have a live review of Silas at The Cartoon hopefully next month. (And check them out live we did, along with Snakebite! check it out HERE!). All in all... Rock!
