Bulldog says:
This is the third time now that I've been to see these two bands play together, and the first time outside the confines of the old Cartoon.

Last time we said:
" Not just the fact that they fucking rock either, they're the amongst the nicest guys you could meet too, and were the first bands that Bulldog asked when starting the NOISE MATTERS project. If they play near you, go see. They rock.

SILAS DEMO REVIEW (new!)

SILAS w/ SNAKEBITE
LIVE @ The Black Sheep Bar, Croydon
Thursday 25th January '07

Due to it being Bulldog's first time at the Black Sheep, and having never driven to that end of Croydon before, we were a little late arriving at The Black Sheep, added to the fact it's a members-only club and although membership is free, you have to sign up at the door. Kinda cool and high-tech tho (hopefully adding them as a Preferred Venue soon so stay tuned). The fingerprint thing's mental.

The Black Sheep is a massive contrast to the old Cartoon, airy and spacious, good-sized stage, and soon as you walk in you can hear the difference in the building's acoustics. Much as we miss the charm of the old Cartoon, you can see where the competition was.

SNAKEBITE
Snakebite LIVESupporting Silas this time instead of headlining them, Snakebite were from the moment we got there characterized by frontnutter Jason's snarls at the crowd to get the fuck up and mosh. Rightly so! You don't go and sit down when these guys are on stage, you get the hell upfront! METAL-i currently rates Snakebite as the UK's best unsigned hardcore metal band with damn Snakebite LIVEgood reason. As always they put on a top performance, though we only caught the last half of Snakebite's set due to that stupid fucking one-way system into the car park and then having to sign up for membership of the Black Sheep (that part we don't mind).

SILAS
Silas LIVESomething about the acoustics at The Black Sheep suit a band like Silas, allowing those poundin' guitars and drums to hit every corner, and far better for James' voice during the set, and makes it easier to hear his one-liners. Like Snakebite, these guys are so together that they couldn't be more so if you used a rivet gun and superglue, and when they take the stage they got the attention of everyone in the place, even the odd emo (aren't emo's always odd? ;) Bd) and goth in the place. It's a standard set for Silas, and not overly long, but short sweet and hits the spot. Bulldog picked up a copy of Silas' demo "Welcome To The Journey" and you can see what we have to say 'bout that elsewhere in reviews.
