While METAL-i doesn't go in for political bias much in music, Kokotxa aren't shy of their stance and views. We listened with a little trepidation, but the catchy RATM style grind soon wins you over. You don't have to agree with their views to like them.

KOKOTXA - Myspace tracks reviewed

kokotxaWe're not politically biases either way at METAL-i - at least not in an official capacity. Kokotxa wear their political views on their sleeve. This three piece "socio-political metal/grunge/punk" band formed in 2002 in east london and recently recorded their first full album ''Abolish Race''

Claiming influence from "Nirvana, Metallica, RATM, etc" the political views of RATM are definitely there. Butkokotxa politics aside, METAL-i isn't here to tell you who to vote for. This is about the music.

Solid steady melody and slightly-Cobain-esque vocals have got this band a growing audience. "Merry Go" is a decent head-nodder, but seems to end 2 or 3 times. Could do with a little better blending in the middle. "The Chaz" is a barnstormer of an opening riff, and shows up the punkier side of their influence. What is a Chaz by the way lads? Can't fault "The Chaz", full of good hooks and contagious beats. "Profitless" boots in like Sepultura before calming down into kokotxaa slower vocal tempo but the chorus lets them roar like the Brazilian legends. We like. "Mother's Daughter" moves away from the metalcore towards the grungier side, think Alice in Chains rather than Nirvana.

Over all this ain't a bad set from these London guys. Standout track for us has to be "The Chaz."
