Flowing smoothly from acoustics to electrics, Claire's got something that we've not heard in UK female singers for some time - originality. By the truckload. Her sultry husky voice is unlilke anyone else doing this sorta music in the UK just now.

Claire Toomey- web tracks reviewed

Claire Toomey - goddess of rockWe first heard this UK songstress on Myspace, a couple of tracks that ticked all the right boxes. Good tunes - check. Great voice - check. Catchy melody - check. Great for chilling out to - hell yeah. Check. Now admittedly Claire Toomey's acoustic and pop-rock sound isn't what you might come to expect from METAL-i, but like the new tagline says: "Everything That Rocks".

Claire's making some good ground with several good-size gigs and a listing on Channel Four's music webspace. Citing influences in Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette, U2, Nirvana, Judie Tzuke, and REM, Ms Toomey's got an impassioned, mature husky voice that belies her years. We pick up some shades of The Mission in some of the guitar melody, probably unintentional but certainly brings to mind Deliverance and Tower Of Strength. Don't be fooled here by the fact this isn't heavy rock or metal, these tunes will capture you by other means, pulling on your heartstrings and for playing when you need to wind down after one of those days. "Already Gone" is an uptempo powerpop tune, Claire's distinctive voice providing some perfect lines that you could deliver to an ex, male or female. "Found" is the sorta song that gives you hope when you're feeling alone and down, somethin that raises the spirits Claire Toomey - live at The Borderlineand floats you on a comfy cloud. Right now, Bulldog's got "Off The Face Of The Earth" on the car's mp3 list, great song for boppin' along to while driving, somethin you want to sing along to for ages. "Moving Target", possibly the best of an already very very good set of songs from this accomplished lass.got Bulldog sitting back in his basket, eyes closed, nodding along and swaying around. Poor doggie's having flashbacks, the song's about how people sometimes just won't accept stuff and let you be you. We're gonna definitely go check out Claire live this year, and hope that with all the effort she's putting in, she gets the attention and kudos that she definitely deserves. Rock is everything, and Claire Toomey will rock your soul.
