Britt Black at the young age of 21 years old already has more songwriting, recording and touring experience than most musicians twice her age. Britt began her career at 10 years of age co-writing a track Violence on a major label release I Bificus.

At 13 she was the founding member and key writer for the teen girl rock band LiveonRelease and enjoyed 4 high rotation videos off of 2 albums including Lets Go and Im Afraid of Britney Spears which appeared in the movie Dude Wheres My Car.

At 18, Britt moved to touring as lead guitarist for Lava/Atlantic recording Artist Bif Naked before assembling her own band and recording the Britt Black album "Blackout"

Britt Black - Myspace tracks reviewed

Britt Black is the Canadian neo-metal-punk you're allowed to like without feeling embarrassed. More attitude and tattoos than Lavigne, with an amped-up more-swearing-included attitude-laden slice of fun. I'll state the obvious and say right here that Ms Black is stunning - she's 21 with experience that belies her years and I don't doubt she could wipe the floor with many of her contemporaries. Fact is, she sounds as good as she looks - fucking great!!

Britt Black Britt Black on Myspace Britt Black Official "Next Big Thing" is great, I'll be playing that loud in the car with the windows down come summer, lively bouncy and anthemic. Black's influences speak for themselves - from the legendary Joan Jett to modern indie superstar Biff Naked (who Black played lead guitar for at the age of just 18!!), to Pennywise, Johnny Cash (!) and The New York Dolls to name just a few. "Jet Black Heart" is a hyperactive emotional trip that'll make you think of all the loves you lost (I'm howling right now), and can't help but think of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts from both title and style. "Definitely Maybe" is Wildhearts meets Biff Naked, take-no-prisoners floor-filling crowd-pleaser, and you better hope you can dance AND sing at the same time metalheads! You'll need to with that song ;). "Sick Tired" is that anthem you need in your earphones when you're sick and tired of being sick and tired of everyone and everything. As a protege of Biff Naked, you wanna keep an eye on this act, success doth beckon.

"Night Time" keeps the tempo high and takes us firmly into Pennywise-Go.Go's-Donnas fusion territory, this is just fucking ace. Think of The Donnas at their best, the Go.Go's at their bounciest, Pennywise at their most manic... do you have any idea how hard it is to type a review when you're bouncing about at the desk like you're sitting on a space-hopper??? Night Time is my standout track here.

Vocal performance here is first-rate, backed up by excellent production and musicians, male backing-vocals that support Black's own melodies and strengths rather than hinder, and you're gonna want more when these five tracks are played through on Myspace. The album "Blackout" is out now, and if you like what you hear on Myspace, go buy the album and show your support for the force of nature that is Britt Black. Not above self criticism, she's posted video from a nightmare gig after which the entire band was apparently fired. Fucking right! Lots of potential here.
