NM asked our pal Alan, who's a bit of an expert in all things extreme-metal-oriented (some of you will know why, but we're stayin' hush at his request), to review SubVerSi0n. Al's better clued to give a fair review on the genre than NM's resident humanoid canine Bulldog, though Bulldog also this band are fuckin' great.

After a half year of searching, SubVerSi0n finally announced last month that they've got a complete lineup, with the addition of Chloe on effects and keys. The plan now is for them to get cracking on some hardcore practice until they're ready to hit the venues. And when they do hit the venues, NMCom can assure you that SubVerSi0n will fuckin' rock those places to their foundations.

SubVerSi0N - Myspace tracks review

subversi0nFirst thing that hits me is the keys, always grabs attention and when used well is a great tool to play with in a band, SubVerSi0n use this well and really is a massive part of their sound that helps create a form of individuality in their music. I hear a big beat down, a metalcore meets Meshuggah influence, kinda what A Life Once Lost did, but I must say, I prefer these guys, there’s more effort in opening up the sound and going for something new, the clear vocals are used as part of the music and not just for the catchy chorus that so many bands opt for.

subversi0nThe clear vocals are cool and coupled with the atmospheric strings and guitars sound great in the song to gain your gaze.

The song "New Method" kicks in, its great to hear some new bands remembering that riffs are the heart and soul of metal, not just a one note beat down, A band with balls. Would like to see how they pull it off live.

My only gripe is that the beat down is used that much that they could fall into a bracket that they are better than. If they stick to the original ideas, the best thing these guys could do, is to ignore the scene that is harbouring around them and let the creative juices flow, follow what comes naturally and im sure this band will be seen on the next stage.

Great band, Keep an ear out for these guys, Kent has produced a monster!
