Like many bands these days, Dommin first came to our attention via the wonders of Myspace with an add request. We went n' listened, thought "hell yeah!" and added 'em without a second thought. Top stuff.
NM decided to give the reviewing mission to regular contributor JohnBonhamAtron, in an attempt to show him there's more to rock than hair-metal and prog-rock. It worked!

Dommin - Myspace tracks review
Every now and again, I reckon, it does you good to review a band you wouldn’t normally, since it’s not your ‘preferred genre’. You can go into it without preconceptions, then, and give an objective view on what the band you’re reviewing is actually like, instead of saying, “Oh, they sound like Milli Vanilli,” or other such nonsense.
So, I jumped at the chance to review the tracks on Dommin’s myspace since: 1) I’m not overly familiar with the goth scene etc, and 2) objectively speaking, they flat-out bloody rock!
As soon as the first track on their myspace, “My Heart Your Hands”, kicks in, you know you’re in dark territory here. And that’s no bad thing. You can see why they picked this song to be the first one you hear
, as it just swells up from the darkness in a massive of blacker-than-coal sentiment and pure sonic awesomeness. You can actually see that one of their influences is ‘movie scores’ (they even say as much, themselves), because everything in this song is just massively epic, dark, brooding and powerful. And then we come onto possibly my favourite track on their myspace, “Awake”. And do you know why? Listen to the verse. I have never, ever found a band who could make a bit of music sound jaunty AND melancholy at the same time. That’s bordering on genius, that is. Of course, the rest of the song that surrounds it is pure kick-assery as well, so it can’t really lose.
Dommin - "My Heart, your Hands"
Basically, bands like Dommin are the reason I occasionally like to go into reviews without knowing the background. You get your mind properly blown, then. Well, you do with Dommin. Musicianship, production values, deep, dark lyrics, and immense levels of songwriting talent. I can’t really say any more than that. They easily deserve a 5/5, because this is dark rock at its very best!
